The Missing Puzzle Piece in Horror Books

All horror books need some mystery behind them.  Without it there would be a missing piece in the puzzle for horror books.  The excitement and curiosity behind a mystery in horror books makes them so much fun to read.  To me, this is one of the biggest elements in horror books.  I love not knowing what to expect in the plot of horror books.  This missing puzzle piece is one of the most interesting parts of horror books.  Not knowing where the killer is or who the killer is just adds to the fun in horror books.  I like to read horror books that have a mystery on how the evil in the book can be stopped.  I also like to read horror books when I find out there is a mystery behind the story in the book.  It makes for a much scarier book for me to read when there is a mystery behind the terror.  The terror part is frightening enough, but when you do not know much about it and are kept in the dark with a good plot, it appears much more frightening to me.  This is the missing piece to the puzzle for the horror books that I read.  I love horror books that have a mystery behind them!

Looking Forward to Science Fiction Books

What excites me is the plot and the atmosphere I read in science fiction books.  I am looking forward to the space setting and the action plots in science fiction books.  I think space adventures are always exciting.  I love to see the imagination play out in science fiction books.  Now what will they think of next?  With an action plot in science fiction books you can have the amount of someone or something's strength to the point of the authors imagination.  This is never dull.  The extent to what makes that someone or something weak is also up to the amount of the imagination of the author.  This adds drama to the imagination of science fiction books.  It is always exciting, and I never know how it is going to play out.  I am looking forward to it.

What Inspires the Writer In Me- Romance Books

The smell of roses.  That is what inspires the writer in me to write romance books.  When you think of it, it is the idea of the smell of sweetness from the roses that is inspiring.  The roses themselves do not inspire me to write a romance book.  It is all about the idea of the roses.  In this case, the smell of roses inspires the writer in me.  When I think of this, I apply to it to other everyday situations.  For example, a gift from a loved one can be just as sweet, or maybe something or someone you just care a lot about.  This applies for a good plot in romance books.  This is something for the writer in me to enjoy.  I love the smell of roses to be applied in my romance books!

Science Fiction Books Make the Best Movies- Revisited

I love it when science fiction books are made into movies.  They are one of my favorite genres.  I love movies with a plot from a science fiction book.  Some of the best and most interesting plots come from science fiction books.  There is so much entertainment to find with movies and books.  When you have both of these, it is like a special package!  I like to see the story form a science fiction book be made into a movie.  I think they compliment each other very well, and it makes some of the best entertainment to enjoy!  Some science fiction movies based on books are Cocoon based on the book by David Saperstein, Contact based on the book by Carl Sagan, and Starship Troopers based on the book by Robert A. Heinlein. 

My Favorite Settings In Fantasy Books

Just by having a good imagination you can come up with millions of settings in fantasy books.  My favorite fantasy books have something that is out of this world within the story.  I like fantasy books that have to do with this because it adds extra imagination to the story.  I have fun reading books like this.  My favorite settings in fantasy books are those that have this kind of extra imagination going on in the background.  Settings with extra imagination add to the fantasy part of the plot in the story.  I have a lot of fun with these settings because they are so open to your imagination.  I really like those settings with things not there for any particular reason, but to add to the drama in the story.  Like dark settings.  It just kind of adds to the plot going on in the story.

Western genres are some of the best genres to come by.  They have original material that is worth reading.  What inspires the writer in me to write a western book, is when I think of situations that would be exciting, and put these situations in a remote place in the wild.  I like action westerns.  This is what inspires a writer like me to write a western.  I think of action plots, and then place them in a western setting.  I can think of many plots to fit in with any other western settings.  As a writer, I have fun coming up with the settings to fit in with the plot.  These are the kind of stories in the western genres that I like to read and write about.  They are exciting and fun to experience, no matter which role you play, reading the story, or being the writer.

I love the idea that young adult genres have their own unique style.  It is fun when you read a young adult book.  You experience something unique about it.  What inspires the writer in me to write a young adult book is to think of that specific genre it is going to fit into.  Like action genres, for example.  Then I would think of what a young adult would find as action in their own lives.  After that I would revolve a plot around that point of action in their lives.  You could also mix a couple genres and apply this as well.  This really does work to inspire the writer in me because there are so many things that a young adult would relate to in these genres in their own life.  It provides endless ideas to be inspired by.

Talking about horror genres probably brings some of the most gruesome horror books to mind.  Whether they tend to be gory, terrifying, or both is the art of the writer's ideas.  They appeal these things to you while working with the plot of the story.  In my opinion, I think I like the scary part the most!  What inspires me to write horror books is when I think of things that I would avoid out of fear.  For example, I would not hang around a place that is dark with sounds of zombies moaning.  That's for sure.  After that, I would think of possibilities that force me to be in this situation, like if it was dark every where and I honestly did not know where I was headed.  Of course the list goes on.  No matter how brave we may be there is going to be some frightening situation that we would avoid at all costs.  I find that I relate to horror books like this.  I often agree with the writer that I wouldn't want to be in the place that the horror book is taking me.  This makes it even more exciting to read their book.  When I use this as my inspiration I like to think that my readers will feel the same when going through the plot in my horror book.

What Inspires the Writer In Me- Fantasy Genres Continued

Fantasy books bring out something extra to any story or plot.  I love it when you have this out of this world idea fitting in with a story.  I mentioned before that I like to think of ordinary things to inspire me to write a fantasy book.  This time, to inspire the writer in me to write a fantasy book, I think of things that would normally be a bad situation, and make it a rather pleasant one, or vice versa.  For one, I would think of something I would be horrified with if I had to be there.  An example of a situation like this would be falling in the sky, or drowning in the ocean.  I would turn this into a pleasant situation by being able to fly, not fall, and to breathe underwater.  On the opposite side, I would like to read books.  Although, I would be horrified if I could not get out of one!  It might be pleasant at first, but sooner or later I would want to get back to my life.  I can only imagine if it was a horror book!  

The Writer And The Reader- The Author That Cares

     In writing, there begs a cause; in truth, in embellishment, and in reason.  Every writer must give the reader a reason to read on, the means to become engaged, and to provide indefatigable details/material.  Through the tools available we persist at this with the writing techniques that we learn.


     Why should I care about what happens to so-and-so?  Where is this leading- (pages being skimmed to find the next climatic point).  All of these questions, and more that the individual author thinks of, should be answered before advancing plot.  You know your story, keep in mind what has to happen- write it down, advance the character, the plot, and the interest as much as possible, giving every piece a reason to be there.  Then you can say, "Now we begin."
